South Beach Dietrecipes

The South Beach Diet is one of the most popular and talked about diets in the world. The South Beach Diet was formulated by a very renowned cardiologist by the name of Arthur Agatston. The cardiologist had formulated this diet especially for his patients who were suffering from cardiac problems. Soon the diet became popular and even people without cardiac problems began to follow it to remain slim and fit and prevent obesity in the future. The South Beach Diet consists of three phases where the first phase last for two weeks and it is the most difficult. This is because during the first phase your choice of different foods is very much limited and so are the quantities of foods that you eat. During the second phase you can gradually increase your quantity as well as the different types of foods that you can eat. In the third phase you can increase the food list further.

The South Beach Diet recipes are generally followed by people when they are on a diet. Let us look at the most common recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the South Beach Diet. For breakfast you can have 2 scrambled eggs along with cheese or salsa, a grapefruit, and slice of whole grain toast and sugar free tea or coffee. In case you don’t drink tea or coffee you can have fat free warm milk.

For the mid morning snack you can have a hard boiled egg. For lunch you can have 1 and a quarter cups of fat free cheese, a red onion, 4 spinach leaves, 8 ounces of roast beef and 4 flour tortillas. You can then spread a little amount of cream cheeses over the tortilla. Next you layer the spinach, onion and roast beef, roll up and fold. For dinner take 1 and a quarter cup of water and one tablespoon of olive oil. Next take 2 cups of broccoli florets and one packet of roasted garlic and olive oil mix. You will also need 1 ½ chopped chicken with 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice along with a ¼ teaspoon of lemon peel. In a large skillet mix water, oil, broccoli and spice from the couscous mix to a boil. Add in cooked chicken, lemon juice and lemon peel. Simmer the mixture until it is heated completely and then remove from the heat. Cover the skillet for 5 minutes and then serve.

The Sonoma Diet

Your doctor or dietician will suggest the best diet for you after a proper diagnosis. One of the most famous diets in the diet list is Sonoma diet. Sonoma diet was invented by a Connie Guttersen. Sonoma diet is very similar to the Mediterranean diet. Sonoma diet consists of eating large portions of certain foods that are popularly known as power foods. These foods are chosen for the Sonoma diet as they are high in nutrition content.

The different power foods included in Sonoma diet are whole grains, grapes, spinach, olive oil, blueberries, almonds, bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and strawberries. The Sonoma diet consists of three phases and in that context it is very similar to Atkins Diet and South Beach Diet. The first phase of the Sonoma diet is known as the most restrictive phase as you have to limit yourself on the types of foods and the amount of food intake. The first phase normally lasts for 10 days.

In the first phase you will have to restrict you’re your sugar intake and also you have to limit yourself on the types of foods you eat according to the description of the doctor. In the next phase you can gradually increase the varieties of foods that you can eat. Phase 2 will continue unless you don’t reduce the weight that is set as a target for you. The third and the last stage is where you have to maintain your weight in the future. You can increase your food variety even more with an occasional dessert once in a few days. Many people assume that Sonoma diet is a diet that is low in carbohydrates and sugar. However this is not completely true as breads, cereals and whole wheat grains are allowed during all the three stages of the diet. For example for breakfast it is recommended to take a 7 inch plate while for lunch and dinner you have to take a 9 inch plate.
